Douglas LPT have two major pro bono clients, who are the Ballarat and District Aboriginal Co-Operative and Awards Victoria.
General Manager of Training and Pro Bono Manager Emma Edwardes heads the pro bono team and is involved in developing a ground breaking juvenile justice program for Koorie children. She is working with the Tony Douglas Foundation and Awards Victoria to develop a
youth justice program for young aboriginal children in the Ballarat and the Western Victorian region Criminal
Justice System.
The Ballarat & District Aboriginal Co-Operative
With the Ballarat and District Aboriginal Community, we provide free legal advice and support for the Kirrit Barreet Art Gallery.
We aim to help the Co-Operative’s Aboriginal community overcome legal hurdles in a culturally sensitive way; and support the wellbeing and cultural integrity of the community.
Through our work with the Ballarat and District Aboriginal Co-Operative, Douglas LPT staff gain invaluable insight contributing to their personal development and their work with mainstream clients.
Awards Victoria
Douglas LPT does a range of work for Awards Victoria, including legal, HR, recruiting and the development of a risk management regime which includes all overseas expeditions.
Awards Victoria programs help young Australians develop leadership skills while helping those who are vulnerable.
We support our staff to travel in support of Awards Victoria, OZQUEST program. In 2008, staff members assisted with charitable work in Nepal.
